The South Dakota Festival of Books is the event that readers, writers and book lovers in general look forward to all year. This year, the Festival’s 20th anniversary, the event will be held in Brookings.
The SD Festival of Books has grown in scope and prominence over the years. The 2022 event will be held in multiple venues, both on the SDSU campus and at locations throughout Brookings, over three days: Sept. 23-24-25.
Hosted by the South Dakota Humanities Council, the South Dakota Festival of Books celebrates literature by connecting regional and national writers with readers for conversations, presentations, panel discussions, book signings, and special events. The three-day schedule includes workshops and talks offered by established authors and publishers. It also allows aspiring writers — like me — to learn from some of the country’s celebrated professionals.
From national best-selling authors such as William Kent Krueger to South Dakotans like Noel Hamiel and Christine Wevik, festival-goers have a smorgasbord of experiences to taste and consume.
And best of all, many of the presentations are free. This weekend, spend some time with great writers, excellent books and fellow bibliophiles.
